“Is the Juice Worth the Squeeze?” You hear it all the time on ZOOM meetings, or in the office. It always perks everyone up on the call and makes them really, really interested to hear the next sentence. And why? Because the words are vivid and put an image in your mind.

But who originally said this? Where did it and other familiar sayings come from?

“Is the Juice Worth the Squeeze?” is from the 2004 movie, The Girl Next Door.

The actor Timothy Olyphant first said it when he played the character, Kelly. And it went like this:

Kelly: You wanna be president? Lemme tell you the first rule of politics; Always know if the juice is worth the squeeze. You know what that means? It means you don’t steal my girl unless you’re ready to accept the consequences.

Here are some other familiar sayings. How many times have you said this next one?

“I’m Not A Doctor, But I Play One on TV”

This one was always weird to me but it is still said so often and in so many different circumstances.
